Can't download .exe

Greetings,

Several times I tried to download "McClintock, John & Strong, James - Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature (12 vols)" without success. The browser gave me the choice to save the executable, however the download percentage never ticked up. I tried everything with the browser including adding the website to the trusted zone, lowering the security and even running Internet Explorer without add-ons.

Thinking that possibly it's a Internet Explorer issue alone, I even tried chrome but had the same results. I believe it probably would be less of an issue, if the files were all zipped instead of executables. Has anyone else had this issue or know how I can go about getting this module? This would be greatly appreciated.

Much thanks

An original names Bible.

I have been wondering about this for a while: if there is a Bible translation out there which uses the original spellings on all of the names of people and places. I know of Messianic Bibles that attempt at giving the names of people and places in the Bible if they are Hebrew or just suspected to be Hebrew, but their approaches have been flawed. For example, the Complete Jewish Bible transliterates the name Matthaios (Matthew) as Mattityahu, but according to the best scholarship the more accurate transliteration of Matthaios is Mattai. There is already a Greek transliteration for Mattityahu (more accurately Mattithyahu)-- it is Mattithias. Franz Delitsch did a great job at determining what the Hebrew and Aramaic names in the New Testament actually looked like. For the name of Matthias (Judas Iscariot's replacement) he suggests Mattiyah which agrees with the Greek spelling more closely and also has been found on ossuaries in Jerusalem. Also, I would love to see the Greek names in their original Greek spellings and not their Latin spellings-- names like Nikodemos (Nicodemus), Onēsimos (Onesimus), and Andreas (Andrew). Do any of you know of any English translations that do this?

Bishops Bible 1572 And 1602

I don't know if this is possible for anyone but, I have an interest in how the English Bible has developed. One of the most interesting stories is how the Authorised, or King James, version came about. Many here will know its origins begin with the decision to update the Bishops Bible, and the original Translators were supposed to stay close to the Bishops Bible used as a base text, but lesser known is that the Bishops Bible itself had undergone revision n both 1572 and in 1602, and it is the 1602 edition that was used to form the KJV. At leats nominally.

So, for Historical purposes, I was hoping someone had access to a 1572 and/or a 1602 Bishops Bible and could create an ESword Module for both of them. That way people could compare them.

I'd do it myself but I don't now how to make ESword Modules and have no access to the Text. None of which seem reprinted. In fact, to have a Hard Copy of the Bishops of 1568 I am having a private Printer produce one. ( I cannot afford the Greatsite version, which is too large anyway for me.)

So, does anyone have access o the 1572 or 1602 Bishops Bible? And would they be willing to digitise it and make it available for use?

Great day all,

Has anyone found / developed a plug-in for E-Sword that will allow use of a "Go To" or "Find on Page" function?  Don't know how the program could be around for so long without an operable "Go To" function on the page.

Thanks,

HD Module Conversion--Where does it go?

For the first time I tried to convert a commentary module to HD for my iPad. The tool opened and I was able to select the Commentary category. The tool ran through the module, but I do not know where the converted file wound up. I did not see any way to tell the tool where to file the converted module. I've looked in the e-Sword file where the other modules are located, but did not find the CMTXI file. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to find the missing file?

Creating E-Sword HD Bible Modules from your PC

Hi everyone.
I am creating this post to help E-Sword HD user to convert Bible, Commentary, Dictionary e-sword modules available on their PC to IPAD format and then transfer the converted modules for use on their IPADs.

Installing Bible Modules for E-sword HD on IPAD

Let’s face it. Support for E-sword HD is not that great. Let’s hope this post will help you to stand on your own legs. The following is an example of converting an E-sword bible module (that you already own on your pc) to IPAD version and then transferring that file to your IPAD.
Note: This document is distributed just to help the Esword HD users out there who own their own modules.
I am not responsible for any loss incurred from the use of the information in this document or for any copyright infringements.

  • Download and Open the e-sword HD IOS convertor utility (http://www.e-sword.net/extras.html>> IOS Convertor) and you will have a window open up.
  • From the window, choose the esword Bible module (.bblx extension) on your PC that would like to convert, so that you can use it on your IPAD. Ideally those files should be in the Esword folder on your PC.
  • Click the convert button and the module conversion process begins. This software will create a new module for IPAD with the extension ” .bbli” in the same folder on your PC.
  • Install “ ifunbox” app for windows PC from http://www.i-funbox.com/ and open the software. Connect your IPAD to your PC. Click on the esword HD icon in “All my Apps” category as below.
  • When new window opens up click on “Application support” and you will find a list of Esword HD modules already installed on your ipad. Now you have to add the converted bible module file that you just created in step 3 into this list, so that esword HD can use it. So click on “Copy from PC” and go the original folder were you located the bible file for conversion. You should find another new file with the same file name but with .bbli extension. Select this file and the file transfer of the converted file to IPAD is done.
  • Congratulations now your bible module file should show up in the "Application support list" displayed on the PC screen, which means it is installed now on IPAD. Now you may test this by opening the Esword HD software from your IPAD and the new bible should appear in the bible list.

Note :You can use a similar strategy to convert your commentaries sets, dictionaries etc by the selecting the right option in “Type” drop down menu of the e-sword HD module convert utility.

  • For creating commentary module open e-sword HD IOS convertor utility, select the commentary option in "type" drop down menu and choose file with .cmtx extension on PC to convert to .cmti extension and follow steps 4-6 as above to transfer converted file (.cmti extension) to IPAD.
  • For creating dictionary moduleopen e-sword HD IOS convertor utility ,select the dictionary option in "type" drop down menu and choose file with .dctx extension on PC to convert to .dcti extension and follow same steps 4-6 as above to transfer converted file (.dcti extension) to IPAD

DOWNLOADING/INSTALLING E-SWORD MODULE ON IPAD MINI

Hello. I downloaded E-sword onto my ipad mini. I noticed a particular translation that I wanted (Jonathan Mitchell New Testament) was not an option. I downloaded the translation from this site and it came as a .bblx file. Attempting to figure out how to install it on my own, I then dragged the .bblx file into my shared folder within itunes on my desktop Mac. I then went into my ipad E-sword to see if it appeared and it didn't. After reading some threads, I thought maybe I needed to convert it to a .bbi file. There is an Apple converter utility on here, but when I download the utility it comes as an .exe file which is not helpful to me on the desktop Mac.

Any thoughts? Does someone have the JMNT module ready to go into an ipad that I can have?

Trying to figure all of this out. i am used to having a Samsung with Mysword but my wife bought me an ipad mini and I am trying to make it work as smoothly.

Kindly,

MIke

Arranging window panes within E-Sword

Hi,

I used to be able to arrange my esword so that the bible pane took up the majority of the screen with the commentary, editor, and dictionary occupying a small section on the right hand side. Currently my setup will only allow the commentator and or editor to land in the small section on the right with the dictionary taking up half of the main screen at the bottom.

I find this quite frustrating as the dictionary in this position makes the bible too small to be useful.

Does anyone know how to make the dictionary land in the small section on the right hand side?

Thanks!

PS I am using windows 8 if that matters.

Sorting Topics by date created

Hi, I  have used E-Sword for many years, but there is a feature I wish it had. Does anyone know if there is a way to sort topic notes by date? If not, that would be a helpful addition to this already great program.

Hope to hear from you.

A question from a beginner

Hello everyone,

I've had esword for a while, but only got 'into it' the other night when I found this site!  I also use Glo, but love to surround myself by my books  :)

Anyway, I like to use a few different commentaries at once but was wondering if there is a way that eSword can 'bookmark' where I left off.  If I scroll down on one commentary, switch to another, then come back to the first, I have to find where I left off starting at the top.  Hope that makes sense, thanks in advance for the help!

Revised Version With Apocrypha? Future?

I'm sorry for asking people to make modules but I don't really know how to myself. However, I'd like to know if we can see in the future a Revised Version Bible with Apocrypha? It was originally published with it and I'd like to see it included in the main ESword Module, or else as one that can be loaded here.

The Revised Version With Apocrypha is in the Public Domain and can be found easily online, so if someone would be so Kind as to load a version with the Apocrypha I'd be ever so grateful.

If so, could somebody link me to it?

I found a 3.5 version in another location, but there were some questionable associations with it.

Collaborative Commentary on BIBLE from BIBLE Support Group

Dear Members and Visitors of the Site,

Greetings to you in the name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. While i was meditating on BIBLE, this morning this thought flashed in my mind. Give a thought to it and let me know your view.

There is never an end to the knowledge or revelation one can obtain from meditating on scriptures. We already have plenty of commentaries, books on the website to refer from, as the helping aids in understanding scriptures. Each one of us come here either to download, upload modules. Very few are the original modules created by the members. Many of us take content from existing sources and making them into modules. All of us are doing our own BIBLE study with the help of downloaded modules. Each one of us are blessed with the SPIRIT of GOD to obtain fresh revelation from the scriptures as we dig them daily in our lives. The knowledge obtained either retained in ourselves or shared in closed groups, at times in open groups if any personal website was hosted on our name. The knowledge was not fed back to the system in my observation. it is like andaman & nicobar islands. thousands of tiny little islands with no attachment, but called under a single name. So much to count in number but weak in size and power. If all those island masses come together and join hands......

Today our group is very strong with member count more than 120,000 with believers and men/women of GOD. How about collecting our knowledge, experience and revelation on scriptures at one place on the site and creating a collaborative commentary on BIBLE from BIBLE support group?

  1. None of us as good as or as strong as our collective wisdom
  2. None of us will ever get complete revelation of a verse in BIBLE becuase it is not comprehendible by human mind. pieces connected together will give us the broad picture and helps us to humble ourselves before GOD.
  3. We can edify ourselves with the experiences of other believers. Even BIBLE encourages in ephesians to let the brothers dwell in unity
  4. So far commentaries were written in small groups or by one author. if such small groups and solo men can bless the body of CHRIST so much, think what kind of impact this large group can create for future generations.
  5. One may say it is messy if these many attempt to work on commentary. but if we let GOD take control nothing is impossible. we can come out of our denominational boundaries, self views and strive towards that notes that glorifies only GOD and HIM alone and no single person, organization or view. In my belief the true revelation born of GOD will be acceptable to all as we all accept JESUS CHRIST in common.
  6. We can keep refining the notes as we mature in our walk with the LORD and gain new insights into HIS scriptures. GOD said in HIS scripture that HE will counsel us with HIS eyes upon us.
  7. We will be leaving this as legacy to our present and following generation to feed on and get strenghtened in the inner man.

if we choose to work on it, we can work out a plan and bring better shape to it.

Regards

david.

Hi,

If there is any technical person out there who is enthusiatic to develop and help the site, please think of developing an app for our website itself, to be used by smartphone and tablet users with Android and iOS platforms. Some of the features i can think of

  1. ability to view and post into forums
  2. browse the download categories, module list
  3. download modules to the respective app (mysword/esword HD)
  4. provide feedback
  5. access to blog

please add your feature ideas too.

thanks

Loading e-sword and modules on a memory chip

$

I am not sure whether this forum is the right location for my question/problem.

Situation: I have an ASUS Transformer. It only has 32 GB memory on the hard drive. I bought another 32 GB memory chip and have it plugged into my computer for my school work.

I wondered if it was possible to load program and modules, of which I have many, onto another 32 GM memory chip and run everything from there? I do have the program installed on the initial hard drive but size is an issue to have all the parts on that hard drive. E-sword "points" to specific locations for the modules.

Would I have all that covered and working properly if it was all installed on a memory chip? What problems are known to occur if I do this?

I just lost all of my notes ... what do I do?

Hi all. I'm new to e-Sword and I love the capabilities. So, to the creator, "Thank you!" Anyway, I'm doing a study on forgiveness/unforgiveness for a podcast/blog that I do. I started typing my notes in Study Notes. I noticed a button for scripture, clicked on it, and a blank sheet appeared. I cannot find my notes. Since I was in the midst of editing my broadcast I'm kind of frustrated about this. Is it possible for me to retrieve it? And before you ask, (shamefully) no, I didn't save my work; which is something I strive to do. I'm afraid that I'll have to redo everything again from scratch. (sigh)

Can anyone help me? In fact, is there any help for my dilemna? By the way, is there a spell check on this? I can't find it. Thanks in advance.
