PLEASE Develop e-Sword for Linux !!! Post here if you want it.
So many people are moving to Linux because it is free and it works. Please, please develop e-Sword for Linux.
It just does not work right in Wine and having to go to the trouble of a Virtual Box just to run one program is
hugely inconvenient.
If anyone else is interested in having this done, please post here so the developer knows.

I received a massage from within E-Sword on my PC that E-Sword X is coming... Does anyone have any information on this?

Finding Duplicate files in E-Sword
Hi All,
Still tweaking my E-Sword re-install and ran across a troublesome situation.
I am suspecting heavily that I have some duplicate files. Where there is doubt is in the file sizes and file names, but looking at it in E-Sword, they 'appear' to be identical.
What I need to know is how to determine if I in fact have duplicate files. As I mentioned, the file names are not exact, but they seem to 'appear' (in E-Sword) as being the same. How can I verify that they are OR are not the exact same? I don't want to just start deleting, only to find out that it wasn't the case.

Is It Safe to Change File Names?
I am trying to make my files in E-Sword more User Friendly when trying to pinpoint a particular file. It would be easier if I could rename them. If I can - can I just rename them or is there a module that I need to use?

Spontaneous OVR default
WORD Overwrite Mode continually defaults to OVR and I am not able to easily restore INSERT mode without saving, exiting the doc., and reopening.

Editing .DCTX files in ToolTip Tool
I have the latest version of the ToolTip Tool (2.53). I read a DCTX file - in this case, M'Clintock & Strong's Cyclopedia A-G. (Filename is cyclopedia_img_a-g.dctx.) All I get is the 8 pages of intro - no entries A-G. What am I doing wrong?

The above module earlier imported into the system by Module Robot has incomplete content in it and more over the commentary file is not working in eSword. I have redone the module from the original content. The module was made into both commentary and topic files for your convenient use. Sorry for the trouble caused by the earlier module.

E-Sword works again!
Hello all,
Story. Although never a member before, I had used e-sword for many years, on 3 different desktop computer systems. So several years ago, I got this great Alienware Aurora R4 Desktop System with Windows 7 Ulitmate, re-loaded E-Sword, worked fine. At some point, I went to install the latest version, 10.2, and while it appeared to install just fine, it simply would not start up. I got in touch with Rick Meyers, tried multiple things, actually got it working at one point for a couple days after deleting some registry files, but then it didn't work again. I tried everything. Settings, installation tricks, registry tricks, you name it, but no dice, so to speak.
Eventually, I downloaded ver. 10.4, tried everything, again, to make it work, but it just would not work. For some unknown reason, I finally just left the files and program in place, and the desktop icon I created, and every now and then, for no good reason of course, would double-click the icon just to be sure nothing was happening. Theophilus did work, so that's what I would use instead.
A couple of months ago, I double-clicked the icon, and it started up working fine, and has ever since!
No explanation is really possible. I do let Windows update device drivers automatically, the default setting, and the best I can come up with is some device driver got updated for some component that was interacting with E-Sword somehow, at some point, and now it works.
You tell me.
Amazing though. I always liked E-sword. Not I'll see about a few downloads, if I dare.

a question about Journal Notes...
What a great piece of software! I'm loving it! But I have a question about the Journal Notes area...
I see that it automatically creates an entry for "today" when I load up the software and any notes I put there are for "today." I see that I can go back and pick a day from the calendar and see the notes that I took on that day. Which all seems fine, but.....
Is there any way to "explore" your notes? I mean, other than by clicking back to each day, over and over, trying to find "which day" had notes or "which day" had the note you're interested in?
I'm imagining there should/could be some sort of "overview" that lets you see "all" your notes, or something like that. Does this exist? Is this a future feature? Or am I just mis-understanding this completely?

So I stumbled across http://www.e-sword.net/mac today! There is finally hope of a native app for my macbook. The App Store link is not yet active, but it looks like they are well on their way to a full blown e-Sword for Mac. Thoughts: Send support and Prayer to Richard Meyers!

2 questions: modules I have for windows program even paid ones can they be placed on the IPad version?
why for the iPad version do you the Company still have to pay for modern versions and I know you have said for listening reasons etc, yet the YouVersion program allows to download all of them even for offline use for free? I wonder how you could get in on that deal for your followers.

available translations for Microsoft word macros?

Someone else has asked this question previously yet it wasn't answered.
I have purchased a few add on bible translations via e study source and have downloaded a lot of free translations, yet only a handful appear in the Microsoft word Macro and they are ones that I don't really want. Is there a way of choosing the translations you want for the Word Macros? or are you stuck with what you are given? I do have the NIV appearing (which I purchased) but would like some others, such as the ESV and others which I have bought including the NASB and NET.
If there is a way of changing the ones that appear and a way of choosing the ones that do, I would be very grateful to hear about it.
Thank you in advance and I apologise if this has been dealt with elsewhere and I have missed it.

D/L Targums PseudoJonathan and Onkelos but do not display of E-Sword
I D/L both Targums, went through the complete D/L process clicking next, next, etc. and finish. Restarted E-sword could not find them on Esword anywhere. Clicked every link I could think of on the page.. Repeated process. Same results. What do I do next?

Ridderbos, The Gospel of John
I am wanting to read something of Herman Ridderbos' view on Jesus' washing the disciples' feet but live in an isolated area.
It would be great if someone had Ridderbos' "Gospel of John' commentary as an e-sword module.
Can someone point me to something online? I looked at his John commentary on Google Books (https://books.google...._PaYC&pg=PA464) but it is missing pages 459, 460, 463, 465, 466.
(If someone has that commentary and could email some iPad photos of the missing pages I would be grateful).

Printing topic notes
When printing, E-Sword always assumes that the page size is A4. This is true even if one sets the page size to A5. I have tried printing on Canon, XPS and to PDF and each time I have an A5 page printed on A4. I tried printing booklets from an A5 Topic and set the Canon printer to A5 pages on A4 paper, but e-Sword forces the printer to print A4 on A4 so reducing the size of the page and adding a lot of whie space. Is there a way to make e-Sword print properly on sizes other than A4?
I have some work arounds:
1) Export to RTF and print. The RTF is properly formated as A5.
2) Increase the font size by 41% and print A4 reduced to A5.
But it would be nice if it worked properly; any thoughts?

Can you copy e-sword to a CD?
Can you copy e-sword to a CD from your hard-drive, and all your applicable programs, public domain to a CD to be used on a laptop that does not have the Inter-net and the only source for e-sword will be the CD?
